A Brief History of Ducati Sport Bikes

The history of Ducati started with producing the Cucciolo bicycle engine in 1950, and in 4 years Fabio Taglioni designed the 100 Gran Sport.

In 1979, the company created the Pantah, which engine became the basis for the SuperSport lineup. All modern engines of the manufacturers have been developed based on the Pantah.

In 1993, the company released the 550 cc "Catalog Racer," but only 67 bikes were made until the production was closed in 1997.

The Multistrada lineup was introduced in 2003 to offer a combination of sport riding and touring.

In 2006, the company started the production of PaulSmart 1000 LE, which style was based on the 750 SuperSport manufactured in 1973.

The production of the Panigale began in 2011.

The Most Popular Models

The Panigale V4 is equipped with a 1,103 cc engine, and it was the first mass-production street bike by Ducati equipped with a V4 motor. The model includes racing features and a long-lasting engine. Initially, the machine came with MotoGP motorcycles’ chassis, but later it was provided with a new front frame that allowed enjoying less weight and better stability.

The Multistrada 1200 bike has been produced since 2010. The machine comes with the Testastretta 11°, throttle by wire, and DTC. There are three equipment versions of this bike including, the base model as well as the S models (Sport and Touring), which has DES.

The 1098 motorcycle was produced during 2007-2009 in the following versions: the 1098, 1098S, and 1098R. The 1098 had many elements taken from the 998, including the placement of headlights and the single-sided swingarm.
