Engine
The G310 R from BMW marks the entry of customers into the BMW line of street bikes. With a 313CC engine capacity, it can provide a maximum power of 34 PS @ 9250 RPM, and the torque peaks at 28 Nm @ 7500 RPM. Along with being such power-packed engines, this bike can provide a mileage of up to 30 KM/L. These are good numbers both on paper and on the road. BMW has really tried to target a more versatile set of consumers with this particular bike. While performing like a budget sports bike, it also looks like one.
Design
This bike is designed and developed together by BME and TVS. Both of these brands have enough experience in the industry to cooking up something this attractive. With a chunky fuel tank, fluidic line across the body, this bike surely looks the part it is supposed to play. While it gets the same LED headlight and indicators as the F 900 R, it surely adds its flare to this bike's look. Along with that, the gold-finish USD fork makes the front look more muscular and aggressive.
Tech
Along with all this, you also get a large exhaust, a wide comfortable seat, and even a raised tail faring. The ergonomic design of the bike ensures that the rider is in no way prone to physical pain or discomfort. It is placed at a low height of 785 mm. The snug ride position makes this bike a good companion for fairly long rides as well. On top of that, you will also get an LCD console as the instruments cluster. However, there is a downside to this. Even though you can gather enough data on demand, it is not really well-made and does not even offer mobile connectivity.
Safety
When it comes to safety, BMW and TVS have taken care of everything. This bike comes with disc brakes on both front and rear wheels. Along with that, it is fitted with ABS technology to prevent any mishaps. There is no need to worry about bumpy roads with this bike, as it comes with a cast aluminium dual swing arm spring at the centre and an inverted fork in the front. All these make for a smooth and comfortable ride.
Dimensions
As mentioned before, the BMW G310 R is a rather compact bike. Made with a tubular space frame, its length is 2005 mm, 549 mm wide, and 1080 mm tall. With a kerb weight and wheelbase of 164 KG and 1380 mm, respectively, this bike is a nice investment for anyone looking for a small yet powerful bike.
In Conclusion
To sum up, the overall experience with BMW G 310 R is that it is a very good door to the world of superbikes. Although it is not one itself, it sure does give a first-time rider a sense of it. You can always contact your closest dealer for a test ride. That said, none of that will matter if you have always wanted to buy a ‘beemer.’ This is the best way for anyone looking for an efficient, powerful street-naked bike.
