Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883, 2015
Specifications
Description
The Sportster Iron 883 is a modern bike with innovative features and the classic Harley design. Over more than fifty years, the manufacturer has been bringing the initial model to the perfection and has even managed to keep the aggressive, old-school look of the very first Harley classic models.
History of Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883
The first Harley-Davidson Sportster was produced in 1957. The Sportsters were initially created to become tough rivals for British sportier bikes. They became quite popular because their frame was a great alternative to larger motorcycles with a lower front/rear suspension as well as the lowered seat, which allowed the bikers to enjoy a more comfortable riding experience.
Over the next many years, the series significantly changed by adding a range of innovative features and some changes in the look, sizes, and position of different elements. In 1986, the Evolution engine was introduced that was available in either 883cc or 1,100cc. In five years, belt drive was started to be used instead of chain drive in certain models, and in four years, all of Sportsters came with this feature.
The further improvements were applied by Harley-Davidson to battery tray, oil tank, electrical system, speedometer, and other technical stuff. By the time the manufacturer was ready to build the 2015 Iron 883, the series had significantly evolved. Initially, it was “all in black” model, but the 2015 version comes with chrome exhaust and some other small chrome details. It still has the minimalistic design resembling the old-school look of the first Harley models. Even the manufacturer called it “an aggressive throwback.”
Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883, 2015 Description
Iron 883 is pretty similar to the Nightster. The differences are in more black design, 13-spoke mags, and some other features. It is easy to see the similarities in the appearance of the first Harley-Davidson model produced in 1957 and this 883 model, including aggressive, but the ergonomic design and a focus on the shorter riders.
The differences are mainly notable in different small pieces, such as better framework and cooling systems. This Harley Sportster features the 883cc air-cooled V-twin Evolution motor with the torque of 54 pound-foot @ 3750 rpm. Thanks to the mid-mount control, the rider will find it very easy to operate the machine without repositioning their feet.
