Description
The automobile industry is undoubtedly one of the fastest-growing markets in the whole world. Starting from customers to manufacturers, the numbers are only increasing rapidly. Not only that, but this industry accounts for some of the major innovations seen in today’s world.
That said, such growth and prosperity will always be incomplete without adding the two-wheeler market. Motorbikes have always been a very integral part of this industry, especially after the launch of the Tomos APN 6.
TOMOS APN 6 motorcycle
Even though it had steady growth, this two-wheeler completely revolutionised the landscape of its segment. While before the Tomos APN 6, customers were more interested in the highly expensive sportbike variants, the Tomos introduced the market to a more accessible, reasonable off-roader.
More popularly known as the Alpino, this bike was the one and only product from Tomos that had a four-level gear change. It was launched in the market with the main aim of attracting adventurers and other riders riding on stiff terrains and up-slopes.
Engine Specifications
It has a 50 CC single-cylinder, a two-stroke engine which was quite powerful for the year 2006, and was capable enough as well. The whole engine was air-cooled and had an automatic gearbox. The Tomos APN 6 was really ahead of its time and even had some of the best reviews in the market.
The engine was quite well-engineered, making the bike both fuel-efficient as well as powerful for rough terrain. The fact that a company like Tomos knew how to strike the right balance between both made them one of the biggest companies for the time being.
This was also considered a unique selling point for Tomos APN 6 since not many other brands were doing the same then. Most brands were trying to perfect either city riding conditions or off-road riding. However, Tomos made sure to perfect both and come up with a middle ground.
Chassis
The Tomos APN 6 was frankly not the best-looking bike in the market but surely did the job. With a slim yet sturdy body and ample seating space, it was quite comfortable to ride as well.
The handlebar was lifted higher so that the rider does not have to slouch, making it more comfortable for longer rides. Along with that, you would get a wide and bright headlight with a similarly shaped taillight.
The bike boasted stiff suspension, which can come in handy in covering up bumps both on off-roads and regular streets. The frame and the springs were specially designed to adapt to such unconventional terrains. Along with that, the bike had a few colours, out of which blue was the most famous one.
Safety
This is perhaps the only criteria in which the Tomos APN 6 lacked a bit. Even though it came equipped with the basic requirements like expanding drum brakes on both ends, these features were not up-to-date. When it came to safety, the Tomos would not fare well in comparison to other similar bike models out then.
Performance
Even though it is not one of the most powerful bikes, the Tomos APN 6 takes care of the basic necessities. Given its lightweight, the 50 CC engine added on this bike suffices its needs for off-roading. You will surely see no issues with pushing through a steep slope or getting out of muddy roads. The good thing about a small engine is that it makes the scooter very fuel-efficient and economical as well.
In conclusion
All in all, the Tomos APN was quite a good investment when it came out and still holds a high reputation in the industry. This scooter was mainly revered for its reliability, inexpensive maintenance, design and efficiency. Although this particular model was discontinued after several years of ruling, anyone who is interested in such innovations will surely know its worth.
