Description
The 1290 Super Duke R is a motorcycle produced by KTM, an Austrian manufacturer. This naked bike is a tough competitor of BMW S1000R, Yamaha MT-10, Ducati Streetfighter S, and some others.
A Brief History of the Model
The Super Duke was first built by KTM in 2003, and the design remained nearly unchanged until it was introduced in 2005. The original machine came with the streetfighter style taken from motorcycles by Buell and Ducati. The Super Duke featured V-twin power and smooth torque.
In 2012, KTM showed the pictures of the 1290 motorcycle, and the real machine was finally seen in 2013. It had the new 1301cc engine to provide outstanding performance. It was introduced as the 1290 Super Duke R, but was also known as “The Beast.”
The KTM 1290 Super Duke R with soft suspension was produced until 2016, and later the manufacturer replaced it with the stiffer suspension. Other changes added by KTM to the 1290 machine included a higher compression ratio, adding cruise control, ABS, riding modes, and more.

The 2017 KTM model of the bike comes with 177 horsepower as well as smoother throttle response. The new 1290 Super Duke features more visual updates, including the new headlight, more aggressive style of the body, the new air intakes. Another great addition to new KTM machine is the full TFT color display, a digital speedometer, battery indicators, and other advanced electrical stuff.
