Features of Yamaha MT-125

This motorcycle is easy to handle and a great choice for the relatively inexperienced riders. Despite being a 125 cc bike, it carries a sporty look which makes it seem like a bigger bike. The power and the handling dynamics of this model are well-balanced and together with the overall feel that the bike offers, it helps these help the rider control the bike better and avoid feeling vulnerable. The Yamaha MT-125 sound has improved after the upgrade too, giving the machine a more powerful note.

·      Appearance: The design of the bike has undergone a major enhancement. The previous headlights have been replaced by full-LED dual headlights which give this bike an aggressive and sportier look. In each one of the images, the side panels, the seat and every part of this model looks quite stylish.

·      Engine: While there are 125 cc bikes with better torque than the MT-125, this model still comes packed with a powerful engine. During the upgrade, it has been fitted with a sophisticated Variable Valve Actuation system for smoother delivery. The engine specs are good enough for a 125 cc bike, and allows one to ride it at speeds between 65 mph and 70 mph without any problems at all.

·      Chassis and brakes:  Anybody looking through the modifications and similar models of the motorcycle would notice that the chassis is very similar to that of the YZF-R125 sports bike. The smart design allows the bike to deal with sharp turns easily. The brakes are excellent, with dual channel ABS and a four-pot calliper in the front.

·      Fuel consumption: One of the major upgrades in the MT-125 is its increased mileage. While the newer version does come with a smaller tank, the reduced fuel consumption balances it out.

·      Modifications: Evidently, the model has undergone a large number of modifications. Among the equipment of the bike, two of the major improvements are the assistant slipper clutch and the super light lever which makes transmission easier.

Comparison with competitors

The Yamaha MT-125 beats most of the motorbikes in the 125 cc segment in terms of performance. Its closest competitor is the KTM Duke 125. Among the A1 licence holders who seek sports bikes within their licence restriction, Duke 125 used to be one of the most popular choices. However, it is expected to face a tough competition from MT-125, which, at INR 1.20 crore, is the cheaper one between the two. The spare parts for Yamaha MT-125 are easily available too, thanks to the extensive network of Yamaha outlets. The MT series of motorbikes is quite popular and although the MT-125 model is the smallest one among them, its performance has been enhanced to make it at par with the larger bikes in the series. Yamaha MT-125 is certainly a good choice for those seeking a high-end 125 cc motorbike.
