Robert Craig Knievel, commonly known as evel Knievel, was determined with the future profession, if it can be called so, at the age of eight years old, visiting a stunt show. From that day life went upside down. Leaving high school without much enthusiasm, the guy went to work, all my free time driving around the area on a motorcycle. Repeatedly Providence had given him the eye to try another way, but Robert remained deaf. First, performing "Willy" on the back wheel he crashed into a utility pole, leaving in a few hours hometown without light, for which he was dismissed, at other times, just for fun, left the police and went to jail for dangerous driving. Sitting there, he came up with his sonorous name that rhymes with surname and is consonant with the English word "Evil."

The future path is no less thorny: the first performances in motocross turned a broken collarbone and shoulder; successful work as an insurance agent; your Honda motorcycle; ruin.

However, the show's stuntmen, Evel seen in 8 years, gave him no peace and in the hope of something to earn it, he single-handedly organizes a show where he presents his own stunts, rides on the rear wheel and jumps from a springboard through a box of rattlesnakes snakes and cages with lions. But to start to earn real money, needed substantial investment. Evel tried to explain what it means "to jump on a motorcycle." No one myself and could not imagine anything like this in 60 years.

The first show on his script took place in California in 1966 and Melo resounding success. Received several invitations to participate in the closing activities of various kinds with their tricks. On the third such event evel made a mistake and, landing with such force he hit the motorcycle that he threw up to 4.5 meters. However, the stuntman had recovered from his injuries for a month ahead of schedule and began planning a new, even more insane tricks.

That he belonged to the idea to jump over the cars that were becoming more and more. All the stunts he performed on the eye and were not always sure of the result. Evel traveled with the show around the country, and the audience demanded more and more cars. And stuntman they indulged, became a permanent cause of falls and injuries. "Anyone can jump on a motorcycle, the problems start when you try to land". The most famous was his jump over the fountain of the hotel "Caesar" in Las Vegas in 1967. Resorting to many tricks and frauds, evel Knievel persuaded the hotel to sign a contract with him on the jump and on the Federal TV with the offer on live. The TV station had refused, but promised to buy a video if there is something to see. It was supposed to be the longest and the most important jump in his career. All or nothing.
Evel has invested in this project all the money. At last he took a room at Caesars. On the day of the jump went down to the casino, put in his pocket the remaining $ 100 on black Jack and lost it, missed a shot of Wild Turkey and accompanied by two Actresses came out to the public waiting at the fountains. Warming up and checking equipment, the stuntman maharawal the motorcycle on the acceleration lane, and took the place to their original positions. Will in a fist, the throttle, the start! And finally, already on the runway ramp in the motorcycle lost traction. Have enough speed to fly, the fountain, new record 43 meter installed. But the landing does not go according to plan. Evel Knievel loses control and falls. Multiple fractures, severe concussion and a coma for 29 days. Fortunately, this daredevil get out, buys a TV, the footage of the jump for a sum even more than was originally promised: our hero gets wildly popular, and resting on its laurels, though, and in the hospital. Asked by a reporter : "How does it feel to be in a coma for 29 days?", should answer: "Yes, what do I know, I was in a coma!"

After 5 months, he again jumps and breaks his leg and foot. Having recovered by August of 1968, he again begins to speak, take the jump a week and receiving for each about 25 000$. However, he does not become a circus monkey, and committed to new goals. Main, but never made the dream was to jump the Grand Canyon, a national Park that could not afford. In 1971, evel jumped on a Harley-Davidson XR-750 19 cars, the record was beaten only in 1998. Evel Knievel broke 40 bones in his career 433 times than also earned a place in the Guinness book of records.

In may 1975 evel crashed again and broke her pelvis, jumping over 13 buses at London's Wembley stadium. After the fall he asked for a microphone and declared that "never, never, never, never" will not jump. And, abandoning the stretcher, left the stadium with the words: "On foot they came, on foot go."

And in October, 1975, he jumped 14 Greyhound buses in Cincinnati, setting a record that was only broken 24 years later.
Evil Knievel became an iconic figure in American culture and, though his name is little known outside of the States and separate subcultures, white leather jumpsuit with red, blue stripes and stars, with a large numeral "1" on the back, it is not a motorcycle collar and French cuffs with cufflinks, growing a white coat – known around the world. And the tricks it became a lesson and inspiration for many generations of stuntmen, was for the benefit of motoculture and industry. After all the stunts the fearless evil knevil were performed on motorcycles, absolutely not intended.
